Rethinking Caesar’s Famous Assassination

historical-nonfiction:

Julius Caesar was already dying when he was assassinated – probably. He was almost certainly ill, likely of a brain tumor, which would have been untreatable and nearly undiagnosable in ancient Rome. It is unclear if Caesar realized this illness would kill him eventually. Maybe a couple quick stabs was more merciful than a slow death from an unknown cause.

source, for those who asked, is National Geographic History magazine.

Anyone who reads it remember the exact issue? Unfortunately my small collection did not come with me on a recent move.
