Rethinking Caesar’s Famous Assassination

Julius Caesar was already dying when he was assassinated – probably. He was almost certainly ill, likely of a brain tumor, which would have been untreatable and nearly undiagnosable in ancient Rome. It is unclear if Caesar realized this illness would kill him eventually. Maybe a couple quick stabs was more merciful than a slow death from an unknown cause.
