Came across this historical gem from 1860 when attitudes and knowledge towards mental illness were different to say the least. I love the idea of “Political Excitement” being a moral cause of insanity and I’m desperate to find out what the “Conditions Peculiar to Women” were that accounted for 891 physical causes of insanity!
