Analysis of Neanderthal Children's Teeth Reveals Unexpected Exposure to Lead:

Two Neanderthal children, living in what is now France, were exposed to high levels of lead before they died. They lived and died about 250,000 years ago. And recent anaylyses of their teeth show they are the oldest known case of lead exposure in a hominin.
