Hi, I kind of have a silly question. Previously, with the BC/AD system, the "death of Christ" separated the two. So, what event marks the transition from BCE to CE?

Actually, the “birth of Christ” separates BCE to CE, like the BC/AD system. It’s the same!

Funnily enough, Christ was not actually born in 1 CE (or AD 1). That was a miscalculation by the first guy to establish the calendar. Modern researchers think Christ was born between 7 BCE and 2 BCE.
