The dragon was the symbol of the ancient Dacians, who lived in and around the Carpathian Mountains and west of the Black Sea. They carried wind sleeves with dragon’s heads as standards in battle. With a breeze they looked like dragons flying through the air. Probably quite terrifying, if you’d never seen anything like it before!
