The name is Bond, Jane Bond.

I did hear a theory that James Bond is not a specific person, but a codename for a specific job as an agent. This might account for the different actors portraying James Bond, and for the comment that no 00 agent last very long. If this is true, then there is no good reason why James Bond cannot be a woman.
