The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, has six buildings containing around 3 million exhibits. It has been a museum for over 250 years, and has the large collection to prove it. Besides art, the Hermitage is also home to about 70 cats as part of a decree in 1745 by Empress Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great. She wanted to protect the priceless art from rodents.
