This is what good cops look like. Not cops that just dont beat or kill people, but cops that stand up against those that do. Silence is compliance and this guy is doing it right
THIS. This needs more god damn notes. Have the crap I hear is all police are bad. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Some police are dimwits, fucktards, assholes, racists, ect…. But there are GOOD cops too. The really messed up part is you hear more about the bad ones then you do about the good ones in the news.
Earlier this week, authorities released video of a Cleveland police officer fatally shooting 12-year-old Tamir Rice. He was killed within two seconds of the cop’s arrival at a park where he was seen holding an airsoft gun. On the same day the video was released, Northeast Ohio Media Group published a report titled “Tamir Rice’s father has history of domestic violence.”
The article, which has so far been shared on Facebook over eight thousand baffling times, reports that Tamir Rice’s father has a history of violence against women, including Rice’s mother. Although it never explains the significance of this fact, it is preceded by an update:
(Update: A line has been added to this story to give insight into the motivation to investigate the parents’ background)
That line—added after the fact, presumably due to questions about the article’s relevance—doesn’t give the insight promised: “People from across the region have been asking whether Rice grew up around violence.” Oh, have they?
Assuming it is true that “people from across the region” have been asking whether a child mistakenly killed by police while holding a toy “grew up around violence” (and there is obviously interest in the answer, seen in the incredible amount of social sharing), it is hard—impossible, really—to justify taking seriously, and acting upon, the clear search for blame in an innocent child.
12-year-old Tamir Rice was killed by police in two seconds. His parents’ backgrounds, violent or not, had no bearing on his death.
People were posting the top photo every where saying that was Mike brown , people will do anything to sweep this under the rug and say he deserved it they would do anything to believe this isn’t a big deal
Now you know if you come across this top photo not to believe this misinformation being spread
Adolescents are being left behind. Globally, AIDS-related deaths fell by almost 40 per cent between 2005 and 2013 for all age groups except adolescents (aged 10–19 years), where our best estimates indicate that AIDS-related deaths are increasing. Gaps in available empirical data make it difficult to explain this with confidence, but there is concern that a lack of access to testing and treatment could explain, in part, why AIDS-related deaths among adolescents are not decreasing along the same trajectory as all other age groups. Prevention efforts need to be intensified and targeted.
More focused implementation of interventions that work for adolescents most at-risk and vulnerable to HIV is needed, including for adolescent girls in sub-Saharan Africa, and adolescent key populations globally. Stigma and ignorance about HIV, along with policy and legal barriers (such as age of consent or punitive laws), make accessing treatment and prevention services difficult or impossible for many adolescents. This is a particular issue for key affected populations, including adolescent males who have sex with other males, transgender women, adolescents who inject drugs and adolescents who are sexually exploited. Stepping up the response for the unidentified and unsupported.
