Issues with the Iliad
Copies of the epic Greek poem The Iliad are notably similar to each other. Most differences are spelling changes, word ending changes, and single word insertions/deletions.
Deciding which are “correct” is rather difficult, though, because while thousands of ancient papyrus fragments of the Iliad have survived, the earliest comes from the 200s BCE. And the poem is known to date back to at least the 700s and perhaps 800s BCE.
