Although the image of the Matterhorn graces the wrapper, Toblerone insists that its chocolate’s famous shape was not inspired by the Alpine mountains. The inventor, Theodore Tobler, came up with the triangular shape after watching a “red and cream-frilled line of dancers at the Folies Bergeres in Paris, forming a shapely pyramid at the end of a show.”
