Someone asked us:
im pregnant and definitely want an abortion. im under 18. does that matter?
Abortion laws vary from state to state. It’s not illegal for a minor to get an abortion, but if you’re under 18, your state might require one or both of your parents to give you permission…
November 8th 1519: Cortés enters Tenochtitlan
On this day in 1519, Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés entered the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan where he was greeted with a celebration by king Moctezuma. At the time, Tenochtitlan is believed to have been one of the largest and most advanced cities in the world, dominating most great European cities. Cortés and his men were expelled from the city in 1520 after some of the Spanish soldiers massacred Aztec civilians during a festival. They later returned with Tlaxcalan allies to siege Tenochtitlan; the attack almost completely destroyed the great city, and the Spanish took Tenochtitlan in 1521. This was a major event in the Spanish conquest of the Americas and the fall of the Aztec Empire.

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Lillian Randolph started on local radio as a singer, then broke onto the national scene when she moved to Hollywood in the 1930s and acted on radio and in movies, mostly uncredited. She’d appear in everything from Tom and Jerry cartoons to radio programs The Billie Burke Show. Later in her career she appeared in TV versions of Amos ‘n’ Andy, Beulah, and other programs. Her most famous role was Annie in Its A Wonderful Life, though she only had three scenes.
Though she was criticized by the NAACP and community activitists for the stereotypical roles she took, Randolph defended her right to work as an actress. It also allowed her to mentor young actors like Lena Horne on how to survive Hollywood. Randolph continued to do films and make television appearances, including Sanford and Son, Roots, and various commercials, until her death in 1980.
