In 1924, the Winter Olympics were held at Chamonix, in France. The only event that women could enter was figure skating. Fifteen women performed.
One was Sonja Henie, just 11 years old, who was so nervous that she skated over and asked her coach what to do in the middle of her routine!
That’s probably the last time she messed it up.
She won the World Championship in 1927 at 14, then at 15 her first of 3 Olympic golds, as well as ten world championships in a row, and six European championships in a row from 1931 to 1936.
