While you're including Trek characters who weren't part of original star trek, how about including the women that were part of first season Star Trek? Yeoman Rand's actress is still alive, and Majel Barrett is pretty major in Trek history as the actress who played the first officer in the pilot and got demoted to nurse Chapel only because of TV execs' sexism. Let's show we're wiser than they were, please!
