Mount Cameroon is not only the highest peak in West Africa, but it is also an active volcano. The volcano has erupted seven times in the past 100 years, the most recent being a three-week period in the year 2000.
Traditionally, the mountain’s inner core is home to powerful ancestral spirits, including a mountain god who causes the ground to shake and spit fire when angered.
