Did you know the Galápagos Islands have been uninhabited their entire known existence? Native American potsherds and other artifacts have been found at multiple sites on several islands. But the evidence suggests the islands were places to visit, and were not permanently settled.

Today, of course, Ecuador protects the islands carefully and no human habitation is allowed.
