This week in vaccines
30th October 2016
This week kicked off with World Polio Day, prompting stories and discussions about the journey towards eradication from all corners of the world.
As 1 million cholera vaccines made their way to Haiti, one expert considered the long term picture, calling for a more sustainable approach to controlling the disease.
Collaboration and innovative strategies to overcome vaccine market failures were back in the conversation as the Gates Foundation looked back on global health achievements. Another contribution analysed the process of bridging supply and demand to support the technology that can help immunisation happen in poorer settings.
In Madagascar, some of these ideas were coming to life as another pilot project using drones to deliver medical supplies, including vaccines, took to the skies.
