September 4th 1998: Google founded
On this day in 1998, the Google company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were PhD students at Stanford University. Google is now one of the most visited websites in the world and one of the most famous multinational corporations in the world, especially known for its search engine, email, cloud storage, and social networking services. In 2006, the Google headquarters were opened in Mountain View, California in a building nicknamed the Googleplex. Google’s unofficial slogan from the beginning has been “Don’t be evil”, reminding the company that they have always intended to put users first. In August 2015, the company announced its restructuring into a holding company called Alphabet Inc., which involved a redesign of Google’s iconic logo.
