I found the process of applying for a Masters much simpler than undergraduate - there’s no complicated UCAS stuff, just an online form. You need a personal statement about why you want to take the programme and why you’d be good at it, then an academic transcript of your undergraduate work, and two references from academics (personal tutor, dissertation supervisor etc.) The tricky part comes when you want to apply for funding; Masters degrees are very expensive and not currently covered by student loans in the UK, which sadly means that some people are only able to do them if they can get external funding. I applied for my university scholarship based on academic performance which involved personal statements focused on what you would study as a potential dissertation topic (this isn’t set in stone, just showing you’re thinking about it!). Others are based on family/income background so you need to provide evidence of this and write a statement. The deadlines for Masters applications are late into the summer, as many people get their undergraduate results and then decide to do a Masters. However, deadlines for funding (and Oxbridge if you’re thinking about it) tend to be earlier so you’re wise to be thinking ahead.
I wouldn’t let the process put you off, it’s really very simple and if it’s what you want to do then go for it!

What's the process of applying for a masters degree in history like? Is it similar to when you applied for your undergraduate? I'm unsure of whether to apply this year or not (I'm going be a 3rd year history student in Sept), one of the reasons being that I don't know how the process works!
