Darwin’s Bark Spider
This spider produces one of the largest known orb-webs and its silk is the toughest biological material ever studied. They build their webs over bodies of water so no other spider can use it. They will use their webs to cross bodies of water as well. There have been cases of them weaving 80 feet (25 meters) of web to cross a lake. These little guys don’t usually get bigger than about .8 inches (2cm) and often go un-noticed, but they do remarkable things.
